I had to install Real Network’s RealOne player last night. I still feel so dirty. I just knew there would be all sorts of dirty little tricks in the installer. It tried to associate every single possible media type with the player, but beyond that, there were no other options. After the install I dug around the preferences and didn’t find anything weird. I looked on the task bar, in the Start Up items folder, nothing there and in the registery, nothing there. Was I bloatware free? Bah humbug! This morning, I turned my monitor on and there was a little RealOne Messages box in the bottom right. WTFF!? There was no option to turn it off only for the headline checking frequency. “Once or twice a month” but no “never”? C’mon!
This is why I like Microsoft products over AOL Netscape or AIM or Real’s bullshit. NO HIDDEN BLOATWARE OR ADVERTISEMENTS! Even the Quicktime player is better! You don’t have a choice with MS (since it comes with Windows) but atleast it doesn’t get in your way and force to look for little hidden links or programs.
RealOne’s UI is really pretty at least.

I’m really in love with William Orbit’s Peices in a Modern style. I wish there were more soft techno mixes of classical tunes … very relaxing.

I just called Ikea about ordering a $99 tv cart. Shipping is $180! I would be cheaper to drive to a damned Ikea store or just build it myself. The lady agreed with me. We need better cheap (but cool looking) furniture stores in Charlotte.

For about the past week, I’ve been obsessed with cleaning my room. This can’t be a good thing.

The end of Saturday morning cartoons. This is so sad.

With my recent purcase of Tron, I picked up a copy of G.I. Joe the movie on DVD. It’s not as good as I remember. Neither was Transformers the Movie. I guess that it matters more that I enjoyed them at the time than the realization that I was indeed rotting my still forming brain.

I’ve decided that I am not, in fact, “coo coo for Cocopuffs.”

Final Fantasy X is a great game. The ending is frustrating at first, but makes sence once you stop and think about it. I beat it after about 60 hours and it was a little challenging. But after 20 more hours of leveling up and obtaining 2 of the ultimate weapons, it was too easy (final boss dead in only 3 hits!). I think the only reason for getting your characters stong (besides being a complete uber geek) is to fight the monster creations. Some of those have over 1 million HP. Leathal.

Rez is the next cool thing. So trippy …
